It is so terrific to see how the two of you, raised in wonderful
families in our terrific community, are rising to the call and
becoming noteworthy leaders.

 

Ms. Fine - thank you for helping our glorious children shine and

We love you and we thank you for everything you and Perry, a"h,
have and continue to do for our community and our children.

We truly, truly, truly love you and thank you - so much more than

Your impact reaches far beyond your classroom. You have helped shape our community, uplift your colleagues, and create a nurturing environment where both children and educators thrive.

Thank you Shirley for allowing us to honor you on this very special Evening of Honor. Your support, and Perry's support, of AJA, and of me, have been instrumental in the success we have experienced these last three years.

 

Your family's vision of a strong Jewish education, and your commitment to making sure that it carries on flourishingly, should be inspirations for many others. Your positivity and brilliant humor have made visits to your home and calls with you more than just 'enjoyable' - your energy is infectious!

 

May you enjoy the sweet embrace of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in good health for many years to come.

 

Jonny and Dinah, I am so pleased that we are able to turn a spotlight on

you tonight, when you spend so much of your time toiling offstage to get so

much done for AJA and the Atlanta community.

 

We first really met at (now President) Daniel (and Diana!) Cohen's house

for a Shabbat lunch where we discussed the great endeavor known

as PizzaLi in depth.

 

AJA's GOAL efforts have more than just Dinah's fingerprints all over

the many phone calls and meetings that have led to pledging success in

each of these last three years.

 

You are models of graduates who do so much more than just send your

children to the school where you grew up, and we are a better school

community because of your investments.

 

To our Martha Sanders Teacher of the Year, Julie Fine, I express my

appreciation for the many contributions you offer AJA. Two stand out - 

 

First, teaching in the Kindergarten and bringing a smile and warm energy

to their foundational last year in the ECD is something you do

with an unmatched passion.

 

Second, you have been an Ambassador for AJA at parlor meetings, talking

up your love for the school and why others should join this growing

community of families and learners.

 

The joy you expressed when we shared that your peers nominated you for

this wonderful award tells the story of how much you care about being an

excellent professional and how deeply you care about AJA.

Together with Perry z״l, she built a remarkable legacy of generosity and dedication to Jewish education and the

strengthening of Yiddishkeit for generations.

Our family is deeply grateful.

My children, David (HA '71), Karen (HA '73), and Lisa (HA '77),
cherished their years at the Hebrew Academy and carry those values with them always.
