Fred Nagler
The Walter Ramsfelder Exemplary Service Award
Fred Nagler served as the Principal of BCHSJS from 1982-2010 and returned to BCHSJS in the spring of 2016. At BCHSJS he initiated many innovative programs including bringing Shabbatonim (weekend retreats) to the school, creating an Israel trip, and instituting many community service projects. He personally participated in each of these good deeds. Additionally, twenty years ago he applied for and received a grant so that for the last twenty years BCHSJS has been the only Hebrew high school in the country with a Guidance Counselor.
He received a B.A. in Political Science from Yeshiva University; an M.A. in Jewish History from the Bernard Revel Graduate School at Y.U.; an M.A. and Ed.M in Math Education, both from Teachers’ College, Columbia University. He was the Math Coordinator of a district in the New York City Public Schools, taught at Queens College and Bergen Community College, and was the Math Editor of Sesame Street Magazine. He has written two books and chapters in other books. Fred is married to Deborah. They have six married children.
