Our Keter Shem Tov honorees, Linda and Steve Tabak, are relative newcomers to Beth Jacob, having been members for just under 25 years. 

They met at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in 1980, when Steve was Chief Medical Resident and Linda was a Cardiac Surgery ICU nurse. Steve returned to L.A. after graduating from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine while Linda found herself in L.A. having been recruited following graduation from nursing school in Toronto. Linda continued to work at Cedars-Sinai until their second child was born, while Steve never really left Cedars, currently serving as the Medical Director of Quality and  Physician Outreach in the Smidt Heart Institute.

 

Linda was always involved with school activities while the kids were growing up at Sinai-Akiba Academy and Shalhevet High School - class activities, Annual Dinners, special projects - teachers and administrators always knew they could count on Linda to volunteer! Linda has also been involved with organizing Beth Jacob Galas, Tomchei Shabbos, Safe Place for Kids, and has volunteered with the UCLA Liver Transplant 

 

Steve is a past President and former Chairman of the Board at Beth Jacob.  He has had many other community roles, including Past-President of the OU West Coast, Past President of the Medical Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, and has recently returned to the Board of Directors at Shalhevet High School.

 

They have been blessed with three wonderful children and two young grandchildren. Their daughter, Jessica, made Aliyah after teaching at Maimonides and Hillel, and currently works as an Aliyah Advisor for Nefesh b’Nefesh. Aaron lives in L.A. with his wife, Ari, and son Rowan, while pursuing real estate development. Joshua recently relocated to Irvine with his wife, Talya, and son Arlo, continuing his entrepreneurial activities. Linda and Steve enjoy spending time together with their children and grandchildren, as well as getting away on their sailboat Levante.
