Morah Goldie Silverman
Teacher of the Year

This year’s Teacher of the Year is the incredible Morah Goldie Silverman, whose unwavering dedication, humble confidence, and vibrant spirit makes a profound impact on our school community.

Morah Goldie has been an integral part of BMA since 2011, lighting up our third-grade classrooms with her energy, creativity, and deep love for Torah and for children. She is constantly seeking new and meaningful ways to enhance the learning experience. Her hands-on, imaginative lessons—most recently the much-anticipated Rashi Breakout—bring Torah to life and take learning far beyond the page.

Walk into Morah Goldie’s classroom and you feel it instantly: the warmth, the joy, the ruach. She makes the ancient stories of our history feel immediate and exciting. Students don’t just learn; they lean in. They feel seen, heard, and valued. Goldie teaches with a n’shama that fosters a personal, joyous connection to Torah & Mitzvot — her enthusiasm is contagious, her storytelling electric, and her classroom a place where every child thrives.

Her colleagues describe her impact just as beautifully.
Rabbi Eisenberg shared, “I actually cannot think of another teacher who is more deserving and less craving of this honor. The amount of talent and humility in one place is staggering. Goldie is a thoughtful doer who is present for everyone—not just her students or her department—everyone. She offers both veteran advice and encouraging words in the least patronizing and most empowering way.”

Morah Shira Miron echoed these sentiments, “Goldie is one of the most passionate and dedicated Kodesh teachers I have ever known. She exemplifies the middot of the Torah in her everyday life—the way she speaks to her students and to her fellow teachers. She helps her students reach the highest level of Chumash skills while creating fun activities that strengthen their love of Jewish life.”

As a veteran educator, Morah Goldie is also a generous mentor to newer Judaic Studies teachers. She shares her methods openly, builds others up, and models what it means to be a teacher who leads with humility, heart, and devotion. She is, in every sense, “a true role model and mentor.”
