Evelyn Abraham and her husband, Roger Silverberg, have been active members of the Huntington Jewish Center (HJC) for over 30 years. They have two daughters, Dana and Jillian, who consider the Huntington Jewish Center a second home.

 

Evelyn grew up in Queens, New York, and attended Queens College. She is currently in her third term as President of the Sisterhood.  Evelyn also served on the Religious School Board, Board of Trustees and as Co-Librarian. Prior to being Sisterhood President, Evelyn served on the Sisterhood Board as Torah Fund Co-Chair and Vice President of the Education, Community and Cooperation, and Membership Committees. 

 

Evelyn was a Corporate Vice President at New York Life for over 30 years in the Controller’s Department where she managed the Life Insurance Main Frame and Electronic Systems. Evelyn likes to be involved and, in addition to her job as Sisterhood President, recently chaired the Purim Basket Fundraiser. Evelyn enjoys helping with the baking of HJC Sisterhood hamantaschen and working in the kitchen on extended kiddushes. In her spare time, Evelyn likes to knit and read. 

 

HJC Sisterhood is proud to name her this year’s Woman of Achievement.
