Just as a baseball team may have a utility player, one who can serve in various positions and excel wherever he may be, so is ICCJ’s Sisterhood fortunate to have such a team player. Her name is Linda Korobelnik.

Since ICCJ was established more than 18 years ago, Linda has dedicated herself to assuring that Sisterhood retains its status as the indispensable fundraising arm of the synagogue. As a former co-president, she worked in tandem with her fellow co-presidents to guarantee that every member of the Sisterhood Board contributed their talents to the various programs which have been integral to Sisterhood’s fiscal efforts.

As a former New York City teacher, Linda cared for her students with warmth, devotion, and understanding. She brings these same qualities to her current role as Sisterhood Vice President of Membership. Her encouraging nature and steadfast commitment to encouraging returning and new members to rejoin or initially become part of Sisterhood has yielded a phenomenal positivity rate over the course of the last several years. Every November, Linda is responsible for ICCJ’s Paid-Up Membership program, bringing rich and varied programming to the general membership, leaving no doubt that their decision to join Sisterhood was the right one.

Each year, Linda serves as an adjunct to the Sisterhood calendar project, aiding the Fundraising Vice President with the arduous task of acquiring business advertisements, greatly increasing the profitability of the fundraiser.

Pre-COVID, Linda served as an unsung member of the Hospitality and Catering Committees, helping to set up refreshments for meetings and kiddushes for the congregation. As a member of ICCJ’s “taxi squad”, if someone needed transportation, Linda was the go-to who would get you where you needed to be.

Since the beginnings of ICCJ, Linda has been our invaluable editor of Tikvatenu, the synagogue’s monthly bulletin. Her gentle prodding of recalcitrant contributors and her sharpened, but discerning, blue pencil have guaranteed a high-quality publication for nearly 2 decades.

ICCJ Sisterhood is proud to officially recognize Linda’s quiet modesty and out-of-the-limelight deeds with her selection as one of this year’s ICCJ Sisterhood’s Women of Achievement.
