Rebecca Dunkel is a 15-year-old honors student in the drama academy of Forest Hills High School, who will be performing in her upcoming school musical “Chicago” and is very passionate about dance. She is also a member of her high school’s Model UN Club and Engineering Club. 

 

Rebecca is very involved in her synagogue community, the Forest Hills Jewish Center (FHJC), where she attends Shabbat services weekly and volunteers to help set up kiddush. She frequently reads Torah as well as the Megillah on Purim. She also sang in the shul’s annual coffeehouse on multiple occasions.  

 

When she was younger, Rebecca was an Ein Keloheinu maven and was inducted into the Ashrei Academy at her synagogue. She is currently enrolled in the synagogue’s Hebrew High School. On Sundays, she volunteers as a madricha (assistant teacher) in the religious school as well as in the junior congregation. She also volunteers at the Purim Carnival and has distributed packages to seniors on Jewish holidays. Rebecca loves to socialize with various generations of people at her shul, as well as encourage young children to come up to the bimah to sing prayers such as Ein Keloheinu and Adon Olam.

 

Rebecca is delighted to be recognized as a L’Dor V’Dor honoree.
