Adrienne Galowin
Woman Of Achievement
North Shore Jewish Center
Adrienne is deeply honored and grateful to represent North Shore Jewish Center as a Women of Achievement. Her commitment to NSJC and Sisterhood for more than 40 years has truly been a labor of love.
Born and raised in Queens, Adrienne moved to Long Island, where she married and began to raise her family. When she and her husband settled in Stony Brook, they were searching for a warm and inclusive Jewish community and they found NSJC. That sense of belonging has shaped her dedication ever since.

Adrienne enjoyed a 38-year career as a passionate and energetic junior high and high school math teacher in the Northport School District, inspiring generations of students with her enthusiasm and care.

Her Jewish faith was instilled in her at a young age in a Conservative home and synagogue community.  Although she did not have the opportunity to attend Hebrew school as a child, her commitment to Jewish learning never wavered. As an adult, she enrolled in classes to learn to read Torah, and proudly celebrated her Bat Mitzvah in 2000, where she led services and read Torah. She found this accomplishment to be a deeply meaningful milestone.

Over the past four decades, Adrienne has served the NSJC Congregation and Sisterhood in nearly every capacity, to include VP of Education, VP of Torah Fund, and currently as VP of Membership. Her leadership is guided by a steadfast commitment to ensuring that NSJC is a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community for all.

Above all, Adrienne’s greatest joy is her family: her husband Barry, daughters Nicole and Trisha and their partners, Chris and Curtis, and her beloved grandsons, Ryan and Ben.
