As a lifelong resident of Patchogue, Linda Tabatchnik has dedicated herself to her hometown and local communities. Inspired by her father, Ben, Linda believes that volunteering is an act of service that not only benefits a variety of causes but also builds connections with others.
As part of Temple Beth El of Patchogue, Linda is the Sisterhood’s recording secretary and a member of the Patchogue Chapter of Hadassah. She is also in charge of the Chesed Committee, visiting Temple members who are sick, making phone calls, and sending cards. In addition, Linda is a member of the Temple’s Education and Enrichment Committee, where she works on many aspects of the Temple’s Annual Yom HaShoah program.
Linda earned her bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a master’s degree from New York University. She served as an elementary school teacher in the Connetquot Central School District for 33 years and her passion for teaching has continued by working as a substitute teacher for the last 25 years.
Linda’s impact has extended beyond the Temple and the classroom. For 50 years, she has been a driving force within the Pilot Club of Patchogue, an international service organization that recognizes the efforts of caregivers and teaches children about brain safety.
Linda is proud of her family, brother Howie and his wife, Margie, nephew David and his wife, Debbie, nephew Michael, niece Jennifer and her husband, George, and great nephews Georgie, Benjamin, and Charlie.
Linda is honored to be among this year’s group of Women of Achievement. She offers her congratulations to all honorees for their dedication and service!
