HONORING
Luke J. Nasta
President and Chief Executive Officer, Camelot of Staten Island, Inc.

Luke J. Nasta has served as President and CEO of Camelot since 1976, bringing nearly five decades of leadership and lived experience to the field of substance use disorder treatment. Mr. Nasta has dedicated his career to expanding access to compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals and families affected by addiction.

Mr. Nasta's personal journey informs his professional mission. After experiencing turbulent adolescence, including heroin addiction, he entered recovery through Exodus House, a therapeutic community in Harlem. He remained there for two and a half years, gaining the tools and insight that would later shape his commitment to building recovery pathways for others.

He is President and CEO of Staten Island’s only residential substance use disorder treatment programs. In addition to launching Camelot's flagship residential programs, Mr. Nasta successfully secured approval for two additional residential facilities, including one designed specifically for women with children, Staten Island’s first. He was also appointed by the Board of Directors to lead Amethyst House, a respected substance use disorder treatment program in the region for women. His work has expanded further to include the creation of multi-site prevention and intervention initiatives across the borough.

Luke established outpatient substance use treatment in Homes for the Homeless, Inc, overseeing them in Tier II family shelters across multiple boroughs for over 30 years an initiative launched under the administration of DSAS Commissioner Julio Martinez.

Mr. Nasta earned his Bachelor of Science in Community and Human Services from Empire State University and went on to receive a Master of Science in Public Administration from Metropolitan College of New York. He is a Fellow of the Rockefeller Institute of Government, where he coauthored a published research study.

In recognition of his exceptional service, Mr. Nasta was twice honored with the New York State Office of Addiction Support and Services (OASAS) Commissioner’s Award in 2001 and again in 2006 for outstanding contributions to the field of addiction services.

Today, Mr. Nasta continues to lead with vision and conviction, championing recovery, dignity, and opportunity for individuals and families across Staten Island and beyond.
