PAT MURTAGH, “VOICE OF EASTCHESTER IRISH,” AND ACTIVE COMMUNITY MEMBER NAMED GRAND MARSHAL OF EASTCHESTER ST. PATRICK’S PARADE Gala on Saturday, March 2, 2019 — Parade on Sunday, March 10, 2019
 
Pat Murtagh, Eastchester resident, known for his involvement in promoting Irish culture and community volunteer service, is Grand Marshal for the Eastchester Irish American Social Club’s (EIASC) 15th Annual Eastchester St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Parade is Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 3 pm stepping off at Immaculate Conception Church in Tuckahoe.
 
The Gala honoring and bestowing Parade sashes to Grand Marshal Murtagh and Parade Honorees Tom Beirne of Chester Heights, and Gary McCloskey and Gerry McLoughlin, both from Eastchester, is Sat. Mar. 2, at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester.
 
“It is an honor to represent the Irish community as Grand Marshal and bring attention to the significant contributions of the Eastchester Irish Club members involved in so many worthy causes including our schools, athletics, scouts, library and supporting the education of orphans in Swaziland,” said Murtagh.
 
Murtagh is known as the “Voice of the Eastchester Irish” for his melodious, lilting brogue delivering lively and knowledgeable commentary during the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. He is a 26-year member of the EIASC and has played many roles in the club’s resurgence including terms as Vice President and Public Relations Co-Chair, and as event volunteer. His community service includes Trustee of the Eastchester Public Library since 2013, Board Member Eastchester 5K Committee and Board Member the Eastchester Irish Versus Eastchester Italian Golf Outing Scholarship Fund.
 
Born in Ballivor, County Meath, Ireland, Murtagh immigrated to the United States in 1984, and has lived in Eastchester since 1991. He and his wife and best friend Margaret have four children— Thomas, Rory, Julie and Patricia.
 
Murtagh is President of Heights Historic Window and Door LLC and Vice President at IACM Interior alterations Construction Management, Larchmont, specializing in custom window and door distribution, and construction management for high end residences.
 
Traditionally sold out, the Gala is attended by EIASC members and their guests. EIASC membership is open to all.
