GRAND MARSHAL BIO

John Fix III is 2024 Grand Marshal for the 18th Annual EIASC's St. Patrick's Parade. He was co-owner of his family's retail hardware business, Cornell's Hardware, until it was recently sold to Aubuchon Hardware, a family-owned chain based in Massachusetts. Aubuchon Hardware kept the name Cornell's Hardware, which is still located at 310 White Plains Road in Eastchester. He is a born and lifelong resident of Eastchester, and is now Inventory Control Manager for all Aubuchon-owned stores including Cornell's. Fix is known for his active local business leadership. His interest in brewing beer and local business growth extends to collaborations with Broken Bow Brewery in Tuckahoe. Fix's Irish heritage stems from his maternal grandparents who emigrated from Ireland to the US in 1930. They were from Galway and Mayo, and in 2019 he applied for and was granted Irish citizenship. Fix's business expertise led him to play influential roles as past chairperson and board member for American Hardware & Lumber Insurance,

William "Billy" George - Eastchester Firefighter & Community Volunteer - BIO

Billy George, Eastchester Firefighter, and his wife, Patty, Community Liaison for the Town of Eastchester, are the Honorees for the 2024 Eastchester Irish-American Club (EIASC) 18th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. His Irish Heritage goes a few generations back on both parents' sides. His parents Virginia (nee Hynes) and Robert George can trace their ancestry to Munster (North Kerry and North Cork, Dingle Peninsula and North west Kerry) and Connacht (North and South Galway). Prior to joining the Town of Eastchester Fire Department where he has served for 20 years, Billy was as an Eastchester Volunteer Firefighter for 16 years-for a total of 36 years of dedication to the safety of his community. Adding to his commitment to safety, is his work as a coordinator for the Fire Department's annual "Fill the Boot" for charity, chair for the Eastchester Fire Department's Tunnels to Towers fundraiser which raised almost $20,000 and active member of the Volunteer Fireman's Benevolent Association of the Town of Eastchester.

Billy is known as always willing to help where needed and enjoys helping out neighbors and friends. He and his wife Patty have been members of EIASC for 20 years, where he has volunteered on the Parade Committee and at many EIASC events.  He helped coach various sports for all of his children and is a member of the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey. He is a graduate of Lincoln High School, Yonkers, NY, is a trained Emergency Medical Technician and a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters. He and Patty have been married for 33 years and are the proud parents of three children: Katie, Kimberly and Danny.
 

Patty George, Community Liaison, Town of Eastchester - HONOREE BIO - Patty George, Community Liaison for the Town of Eastchester, and her husband Billy George, Eastchester Firefighter, are the Honorees for the 2024 Eastchester Irish-American Club (EIASC) 18th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Her Irish ancestry is on both sides of her family. Her mother, Margaret Murray, is the daughter of John Murrihy (name changed at Ellis Island to Murray) and Catharine Lee. John and Catharine, Patty's maternal grandparents, met on the boat coming to America in 1920 and were both from County Claire. Patty's father, Joseph Russell, is the son of Mary Sutton and Joseph Russell, whose connections to Ireland go back several generations to her paternal great grandparents who were from Kilkenny and Tipperary. Patty and her husband Billy have been members of EIASC for 20 years, where she has volunteered in leadership roles as Membership Secretary and Treasurer, in addition to volunteering at many Club events over the years including, the summer picnic, the Gala, golf outing and marched with the Club in various Irish parades throughout the region.

Her community service starts with active participation in the Parent Teacher Associations and events at Waverly School, Greenvale School, Eastchester Middle School and Eastchester High School as her children were growing up. In addition, Patty's extensive volunteering includes as a Girl Scout leader for 12 years and religious education instructor at Immaculate Conception's Parish School of Religion. She participated many times in the Relay for Life and the Bronx Zoo Run for the Wild. She has also volunteered for the Columbus Day Celebration Committee and Karen's Hope Golf Outing. Patty graduated from the Academy of the Resurrection in Rye, NY and received a B.A. in History from State University of NY at Binghamton. Patty and Billy have been married for 33 years and are the proud parents of three children: Katie, Kimberly and Danny.
