Neil is also a deeply committed advocate for the Jewish and many other communities.
After the October 7, 2023 terrorist attack in southern Israel, Neil helped to create the Quebec Jewish Legal Alliance, a group of over 300 lawyers, notaries, and other legal professionals across the province to leverage legal expertise to safeguard and advance the rights of the Jewish community to combat antisemitism and promote justice, equality, and tolerance through legal actions.
In March 2024, with co-counsel, Neil successfully obtained injunctive relief to protect over 30 Jewish institutions, community buildings and synagogues from demonstrations, intimidation, and other acts of aggression. In September 2024, he also obtained injunctive relief to prevent pro-Palestinian advocates from blocking entrances and intimidating and threatening Jewish and non-Jewish students, clubs, and organizations at Concordia University. He is also seriously concerned about our youth and their future.
Neil’s life experiences inside and outside his practice have given him a unique perspective on the status of our communities and country. He is a firm advocate for the restoration of rule of law and safety and security for all.
He has previously served in a number of professional roles including Vice-President of the English-speaking Bar Association and a governor of the Quebec Bar Foundation.
In his personal life, Neil is a devoted husband for over 24 years, a father to a 19-year-old son who now resides in Israel, and friend and companion to his beloved rescue dog, Doug.
