Ben McCormick
Temple Israel
Ben McCormick and his family first made Temple Israel their spiritual home in 1999. Over the years, the needs of the Navy, and later his professional work, took him away from home and around the world several times. No matter where he was stationed or deployed, Temple Israel remained his anchor, the place he returned to and recommitted to whenever he was home.

Since returning to the area permanently, Ben has taken on increasing leadership responsibilities within the congregation. He currently serves as Vice President for Administration and works closely with the staff and building committee to ensure necessary repairs are completed and that the synagogue remains strong and shipshape for the future. He also serves on the Security Subcommittee, Programming Committee, and Ritual Committee, supporting the safety, engagement, and spiritual life of the congregation.

Following the COVID pandemic, Ben supported Temple Israel leadership’s goal of bringing people back into the building by volunteering at every opportunity and assisting with programs and events designed to re-energize synagogue life. He believes Temple Israel is not simply a building, but a community that must be experienced together.
