Bnos Aliya Parents of the Year
Olga and Jed Sunden have lived on the Upper West Side since September 2014. They have three children: Sonya, an 8th grader at Bnos Aliya, Joseph, a graduate of Gan Aliya and Simon.
Education is a core value in the Sunden home. Since the very beginning of Sonya’s time at Bnos Aliya, Olga and Jed have supported their school of choice for their eldest and only daughter.
Over the years, Jed has devoted his time to help secure federal funding for Bnos Aliya as well as share helpful resources for curriculum, opportunities for student fellowships and provide other enhancements to our program.
Olga, a fashion designer and former owner of her own atelier in Ukraine, shared her talent designing and producing Bnos Aliya’s uniforms for the past seven years. Thanks to Olga’s unique design and affinity for organic materials and quality craftsmanship, Bnos Aliya uniforms are the epitome of schoolwear-chic.
Olga met Jed in Kyiv, where he founded a media and tech start-up. Since then, and for the last twenty-three years, Jed has focused his work on free-press issues in Ukraine, launching fifteen newspapers, magazines, and websites. Jed and Olga are also passionate supporters of Ukrainian causes, especially those centered on education.
