lifelong champions of Jewish life, animated by
music, learning, and community. They are generous
supporters of the next generation of Jewish musical
leadership through the Zamir Choral Foundation.
In 2024, the Liebermans made a transformative gift
to establish and secure Zamir’s Jewish Choral
Conducting Institute (JCCI), a first-of-its-kind initiative
dedicated to cultivating skilled, visionary conductors for world-wide Jewish choirs. Designed as a two-year certificate program, JCCI blends intensive in-person training, ongoing online learning, and individualized mentorship—ensuring that Jewish choral music continues to thrive in synagogues and communities for generations to come.
Cantor Robert Lieberman has devoted his career to elevating Jewish prayer through
musical excellence and congregational participation. A member of the Cantors Assembly,
he received his musical degree from the University of Michigan School of Music and his
theological training at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS). He has inspired communities
through the integration of choir, congregation, and new Jewish compositions. He has
been a passionate advocate for commissioning and teaching contemporary Jewish music.
Rabbi Vicki Lieberman was raised in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Columbia
University and JTS. She brings to her rabbinate a deep love of text, teaching, and
participatory worship. She has served multiple Jewish communities with warmth,
intellect, and an abiding commitment to helping people find their voices—literally and
spiritually—within Jewish life. Her leadership emphasizes that prayer is a sacred
and shared communal act.
The Liebermans’ philanthropic vision is rooted in personal experience and enduring values.
Their support of JCCI reflects their belief that Jewish communities are empowered and
enhanced by music, mentorship, and community. The JCCI is their investment in Jewish
continuity, evidenced through the young conductors guiding HaZamir.
