Haley and Max Vogel
Young Leadership Award
Haley and Max are deeply honored to receive this meaningful recognition. Since joining the parent body at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy in 2020, they have become valued and active members of the school community, always among the first to step forward and support initiatives that strengthen the school experience.
Haley, a graduate of Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union (now Golda Och Academy), is an Occupational Therapist at Sinai Schools, where she works closely with students and families each day. Her commitment to community leadership began early, inspired by her mother, who served as PTA president and modeled the importance of volunteering and investing in one’s school community. Haley previously held a leadership role at the nursery school at Lauren Elise Bier Nursery School and today serves as Co-President of the Kushner Parents Activities Committee (KPAC). In this role, she has helped reenergize and reimagine the organization, working to engage younger families and thoughtfully plan events that resonate with adults and kids. Her leadership has brought new energy to KPAC while strengthening connections throughout the parent body.
Max, a Boston native and alumnus of Maimonides School, is an Executive Director and Assistant General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase. He is an active member of Ahavas Achim B’nai Jacob & David in West Orange, where he can regularly be found playing hard on the shul’s basketball team each season. Max’s dedication to Jewish learning is also reflected in his participation in The Shas-a-Thon, demonstrating his ongoing commitment to Torah study and growth. He is a proud supporter of JKHA/RKYHS and remains involved in initiatives across the broader Jewish community.
Haley and Max first met at Boston University’s Florence and Chafetz Hillel House, where their shared commitment to Jewish life and community began. Today, they continue to build that same sense of community in their own lives and for those around them. Their warmth, enthusiasm and willingness to pitch in wherever needed have made them beloved partners in building the vibrant Kushner community.
Haley and Max live in West Orange, New Jersey with their three children: Etta (11, 5th grade), Judah (9, 3rd grade), and Millie (20 months). They are deeply grateful to the Kushner community and thank Rabbi Rubin and the school’s leadership team for their partnership, guidance and dedication to the students and families who make the school so special.
