Rabbi Dovid Sukenik
Educational Excellence Award
Rabbi Sukenik is a devoted Middle School Rebbe at Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy (JKHA), where he has inspired students for the past 17 years. A passionate Rebbe, he strives not only to teach Torah, but to model a genuine and meaningful relationship with Hashem. Central to his educational philosophy is the cultivation of strong middos, caring for others, personal growth, and a deep sense of responsibility to Klal Yisrael.
In his classroom, Rabbi Sukenik inspires his students' love of Torah. He encourages them to speak to Hashem through heartfelt tefillah, guiding them to see their davening as a relationship that develops throughout their life. At the same time, he helps them learn to “listen” to Hashem - by discovering His voice in the Torah they study and in the mitzvos they perform each day. He wants every student to realize they matter and that what they do and the choices they make matter as well.
Rabbi Sukenik earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Yeshiva University. He later earned a master’s degree in Jewish Education from the Azrieli Graduate School, as well as a master’s degree in General and Special Education (Grades 5–9) from Touro University. He received Smicha from Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan and from HaGaon Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg zt”l.
Rabbi Sukenik lives in Passaic with his wife and children, where he continues to dedicate himself to his family, his students, and his avodas Hashem.
