THE STORY OF NJY CAMPS

In the summer of 1921, 70 boys attended Cedar Lake Camp located in Bear Mountain, NY.  The camp was originally created to give young Jewish boys from around the state of New Jersey an opportunity to go to the country with other Jewish boys.  It was to be a place for fun and for the development of their Jewish identity and Jewish values.

100 years later NJY Camps is now home to five co-ed Jewish overnight camps located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Milford and Lakewood, PA.  NJY Camps works hard to serve the entire Jewish community; age, gender, religious denomination, and physical and/or emotional need.

NJY Camps was created with a commitment to bring every child to camp who wanted to attend, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. We are proud to say that this commitment is as true today as it was 100 years ago.

We continually seek to help each camper learn new skills, build self-confidence, and develop a strong Jewish identity. The Jewish camp experience creates a binding commitment to our heritage that will shape the course of our lives.  It is deeply gratifying to see our campers, each summer, leave camp as better human beings and an enhanced Jewish identity and commitment.

Thank you for joining our celebration!
