Steve Rogers is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly, New Jersey, where he has been a member for thirty years.  Prior to becoming CEO in March of 2022, Steve served on the Board of Directors, including a term as Chair. His transition to the Jewish communal field is the culmination of a lifelong commitment to the advancement of Jewish causes, which he feels strongly begins on the ground in local communities.

Prior to taking on a professional role at the JCC, Steve supported numerous Jewish and Israel-related causes as a volunteer. In addition to serving on the Executive Committee of NJY Camps, Steve held volunteer leadership positions with the JCC Association of North America (Executive Committee, 2020-21), Temple Emanu-El of Closter (President, 2007-09), the Michael Levin, z”l Lone Soldier Foundation (President, 2018-19), Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey, the Jewish Theological Seminary, Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County, and Americans for Ben Gurion University. He is a Berrie Fellow and a Ben Gurion University Zin Fellow. Steve also served as a gubernatorial appointee to the New Jersey – Israel Commission.

Steve was the recipient of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s 2010 Erich Holzer Community Service Award and Temple Emanu-El’s 2015 Founders’ Award. His greatest accomplishment, however, was starting at center for Pomona Jewish Center’s three-peat championship basketball team, which dominated the Rockland County Temple League from 1977 – 1979.

Prior to becoming the Kaplen JCC’s CEO, Steve had a 30+ year career as an attorney, most recently as a Partner at Lowenstein Sandler LLP and prior to that as the Chief Legal Officer of a worldwide developer and distributor of pharmaceuticals and performance chemicals. Steve is a graduate of Binghamton University and the Fordham University School of Law. Steve and his wife Robin reside in Tenafly, NJ and have three adult children, Jason, Alec, and Jamie.
