is humbled & grateful to accept the wonderful honor
Yachad has bestowed upon him.

Our dear Abie/Abba/Abi/always recognized the importance of Inclusion. He valued
every single human being and had the insight to realize that everyone can grow and learn
from each other, especially in an informal camp setting. We are so proud of his visionary work
and the legacy he created within the Jewish camping community. He was a role model
for other camp directors and they followed his lead by creating similar Yachad programs
in their camps as well. May עם ישראל continue to grow as a nation ביחד.

Our 'special' niece and cousin
From the day she was born, Caryn was 'special' to her mother, a'h and father, just as all children are 'special' to their parents.  She was also 'special' to her siblings, her extended family, her friends (of whom there were many), her fellow employees, and her teachers.   She had: a special smile
                                                       a special laugh
a special kavana when she davened
                                                       a special way with children
                                                       a special kindness
                                                       a special understanding of emes
                                                       a special love of people
                                                       AND A VERY SPECIAL NESHAMA!
With special tribute to Caryn's mother, Lorraine a'h our beautiful, bright, happy, 'special' sister and aunt who left this world at such a young age, and l'havdil ben chaim l'chaim, to Caryn's  father, Lester, and to Chaya, who took over with such love where Lorraine left off.  It is said that, "It takes a village to raise a child."  I would say that it takes a child, a young woman like Caryn, to raise a community, a community like West Hempstead, a community like Yachad to rename a Chapter in her memory.  Our entire family salutes you! We love you and miss you Caryn!

Adira,
You've always lead by example, forging a blazing path
that others attempt to emulate but often fall short.
Sure, part of it is due to the fact that you don't let anything
stand in the way of doing what needs to be done, but I believe
a larger factor is that you've always stood for what you believed
was right despite any form of opposition.

Know that we've always known of your contributions

Caryn a"h-
You welcomed each of us to the magical world
of Yachad with your warm smile
and a twinkle in your eye- high schooler and advisor alike.

Over the next decade (as advisors, an Israel program coordinator
and chapter coordinator) we learned that your smile represented
your unwavering love and acceptance of of all people as well as
your determination and motivation.

It represented your love for Hashem
and all that He had given you.

Today we continue to be inspired by all we learned from you-
and your infectious smile.

In memory of Caryn Pollak. You taught us to constantly strive to be our best, and never let an obstacle or disability prevent us from growing. How appropriate it is to name the West Hempstead chapter of Yachad in your memory as the Young Israel of West Hempstead hosted the first Yachad Shabbaton. Your caring and smile is forever etched in our memories.
