Rabbi & Rebbetzin Yosef and Chana Galimidi
Pillars of Torah Award

The Edmond J. Safra Synagogue is renowned worldwide as one of the most magnificent synagogues, attracting thousands of visitors from around the globe each year. It stands as a jewel in South Florida and a proud Sephardic house of worship, embodying the beauty and dedication of the Syrian Sephardic community and reflecting a high standard of devotion to the Almighty.

After an extensive search, we were thrilled to welcome Rabbi Yosef Galimidi as our Rabbi, formally honoring and introducing him to our community in April 2008, just before Pesah. Previously, Rabbi Galimidi led Shaare Ezra Congregation in Miami Beach for 14 years.

Raised and learned in South America, New York, New Jersey, and Florida, Rabbi Galimidi completed an internship in Venezuela before receiving Semicha from Rabbi Yehuda Y. Yeruslavsky and Rishon LeZion Rabbi Mordechai Eliahou ZT”L, with unanimous approval and blessings from the Sephardic Rabbinical Council of NY. Fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hebrew and proficient in some French and Arabic, Rabbi Galimidi is an exemplary leader for our diverse international community. He also serves in the Kashrut department of the Miami Rabbinate, is a member of the Erub Council, and is active with the Mikveh and Beit Din Rabbinate. He is highly recommended by the Sephardic Rabbinical Council of Brooklyn, the Chief Rabbis of Israel, and other prominent rabbis.

Rabbi Galimidi delivers multiple daily classes at the synagogue. His popular 9:15 AM class, broadcast live via iTorah.com and YouTube, inspires thousands each day. Many are drawn to his warmth, practical advice, and guidance on leading a meaningful Torah life.

As the leader of the largest multicultural, multilingual Sephardic congregation outside the NY/NJ area, Rabbi Galimidi's advice is sought daily by congregants and rabbis both locally and internationally. He is widely recognized as the leading Sephardic Rabbi in South Florida.

Under Rabbi Galimidi's leadership, besides his daily classes, prayers, and many synagogue projects, our community has achieved significant milestones:

• Grace Cayre Ladies & Dish Mikveh (2017)

• Ezra Franco Sephardic Kollel (2019)

• Joseph Safra Ohr Hatorah High School (2021)
