Rabbi Abram Babakhanov
Community Leadership Award

When Rabbi Abram Babakhanov joined Queens Hebrew Academy in August of 2019, he brought with him a vision, a warmth, and a deep sense of responsibility to the community he serves. One of his earliest and most impactful accomplishments was the creation of the Sephardic Minyan in the Middle School—an initiative born from care and inclusivity that has since become a meaningful spiritual home for many students and a catalyst for the growth of our school.

As an educator teaching Chumash and other Judaic Studies subjects, and in his role as Community Engagement Coordinator, Rabbi Babakhanov has touched countless lives. Through his outreach and personal connections, he has welcomed many children and families from public schools into the Queens Hebrew Academy family, helping them feel seen, valued, and embraced. His work extends far beyond programming; it reflects a heartfelt commitment to strengthening Jewish identity and building community.

Working closely with Dr. Rafi Kalman and Mr. David Kalman, Rabbi Babakhanov continues to foster relationships that enrich our school and inspire those around him. We are deeply grateful for his leadership, passion, and devotion, and we are proud to honor him this evening with the Community Leadership Award.
