Judith Heumann is a lifelong advocate for the rights of disabled people.

Judith (Judy) Heumann, formerly the Special Advisor for International Disability Rights at the US Department of State from 2010-2017, is now building an online presence under The Heumann Perspective through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. This new project is intended to broaden and spur discussions on the intersectionality of disability rights.

For more than 40 years, Judy has been involved on the international front working with organizations and governments around the world to advance the human rights of disabled people. She is a frequent lecturer at universities and conferences and recently did a TEDx talk in the US.

Judy was among the ensemble cast which starred in Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution.  The documentary film focuses on those campers who turned themselves into activists for the disability rights movement and follows their fight for accessibility legislation.  Her new book, Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist, was released in February 2020.
