Milton Adesnik, a Professor of Cell Biology at NYU,
discovered two fundamental features of mRNA that are in
every molecular biology textbook: the 'polyA tail' and
'poly-ribosomal translation'. Subsequently, he elucidated key
aspects of cytochrome p450, one of the most widely studied
enzymes in the body. Towards the end of his career, he
revealed key insights into protein trafficking between
different cellular organelles. Milton was well-known for his
incisive scientific acumen, often posing the crucial question
at a plenary seminar, and his broad and deep knowledge of
molecular biology and biochemistry.
