Honoring Julie A. Silbermann
Outgoing (for real this time) President

Julie Silbermann is only the second Temple B’nai Abraham president to be “recalled” for a second term, and she rose to the challenge of leading TBA through the depths of the covid pandemic. She previously served as president from 2013 to 2017. Before 2013, Julie had served as a vice-president, chair of the Board of Education, and president of the TBA PTA.
An active volunteer in the greater community, Julie is currently on the Initiative for Children’s Health Sub-Committee at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, the Dean’s Council at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, and the Steering Committee for the St. Barnabas Medical Center Campaign. She has previously served on the Pingry School Board of Trustees, as the Pingry School Parents’ Association President, on the Bucknell University Parents’ Board, and on the Northern NJ Cabinet for the Campaign for Bucknell University.

Julie had the good fortune to marry into a Temple B’nai Abraham family.  Her husband, Max, is a long-time, multi-generational TBA member with family ties reaching back to Rabbi Joachim Prinz’s congregation in Berlin where his father and grandparents worshipped.  When Julie and Max moved to New Jersey from New York City, they drew a circle around the Temple and looked at houses only within an acceptable carpool distance from TBA.  They have lived in Livingston since 1985.

Julie’s children, Matthew and Karen, went through TBA early childhood education programs, TBA day camp, Primary School, Religious School, and both became b’nai mitzvah at TBA.  Both were married by TBA clergy and Julie’s grandchildren are fifth generation TBA people!
