Steve Levy is a mensch, a person of integrity, honor and decency who does the right thing because it is right and helps others.  As a leader of the Federation community and the Chairman of the Day School Council, Steve’s friendship, guidance and support has been invaluable to the Jewish Educational Center and the greater community.

 

Steve’s relationship with the JEC began a decade ago through his work with the Greater MetroWest Jewish Community Foundation and the Day School Council.  His steadfast friendship has helped the JEC grow and thrive throughout that time.  Steve’s commitment to excellence and affordability in Jewish education contributed to the JEC’s first-class professional development and faculty learning, revolutionary Tuition Max financial aid program, and so much more.  

 

With visionary leadership, Steve was instrumental in reimagining the Union Y as part of the JEC and he has provided counsel, guidance and support for countless JEC initiatives and programs over the years.  Steve’s friendship and support were essential during the Covid period and in the hours following the flooding that damaged JEC campuses in September 2023.  With the support of his wife Beena, three amazing children and three adorable grandchildren, Steve embodies the mantra of volunteer non-profit leadership and philanthropy to “Say ‘yes’ as often as possible.”  

 

A Yeshiva of Flatbush alum with a successful professional career in business, Steve dedicates himself to advancing the cause of Jewish Education here and around the country.  He devotes his time, expertise and resources to ensuring that every Jewish child receives a quality Jewish education.  Steve loves the JEC and can always be counted among the most enthusiastic participants in the  annual Golf Outing, affectionately competing for the coveted Cholent Cup.  Steve is a true friend and steward of Jewish education and our community.  We are proud to present Steve Levy with this year’s JEC Lev V’Nefesh Award.
