Shaindy and Yossi Pinsker have been members of the Jewish Educational Center community since they moved in following their marriage in 1999.  From the start, they have played an active role in nearly every community project and institution.  Living by the philosophy that a community is only what you make it, Shaindy and Yossi make our community warm, inviting and supportive of individuals, couples and families. 

 

As one of the first members of the Adath Israel Board, and one of its longest serving members, Yossi has been instrumental in helping the shul create a growing, vibrant Torah community.  In addition to serving on the board, Yossi maintains the shul website, email, and social media, and helps welcome potential new families to the community.  He has served as gabbai, baal tokeah, and Yamim Noraim baal tefillah, and gives the daily Mishna Yomi shiur after shachris. 

 

Shaindy began her involvement with the JEC early on, working on JEC publications such as the News and Views. After working as a kindergarten assistant, Shaindy became the executive office manager of the Lower School, a position she has held for 15 years.  While her job keeps her on call all waking hours (#askshaindy), Shaindy has also found the time to run the Mikvah fundraisers, eventually becoming the Director of Mikvah Operations.  Shaindy also serves on the executive board of the YM-YWHA, and most recently has added an Eruv checking route to her weekly routine.  Yossi has been coaching the Bruriah softball team for 5 years and Shaindy joined as an assistant coach this year after she finally learned the definition of the infield fly rule.

 

Yossi, himself a JEC alumnus (‘95), and Shaindy, have four children who attended the JEC from nursery through 12th grade.  Yehudah (‘19), Adina (‘19), Talia (‘22), and Shoshana (‘26).  Together, the Pinskers embody the spirit of dedication, service, family, community and unity that exemplify the Jewish Educational Center and are this year’s Amudei HaKehillah Awardees.
