Morah Yonit & Rav Adiel Mhazri
Special Recognition
Yonit and Rav Adiel Mhazri joined Moriah in September of 2022. As shlichim of the Sochnut (Jewish Agency) they arrived in our community with a mission of inspiring our students and families with a love of the language, land, people, Torah and State of Israel. In the short time that they have been here they have accomplished all this and much more. They and their children, Lior (8th Grade), Lavi (6th Grade), Noa (5th Grade), Regev (2nd Grade), Tzur (K), and Carmel (N), have become a beloved part of our community and have forged deep connections with so many of us. Their efforts have helped move our Hebrew language program forward in significant ways.
Rav Adiel’s most recent area of focus before coming to Moriah was in the world of Israeli politics as a Director and senior adviser to the Religious Zionist party. He holds a law degree and an MBA from Ono Academic College. Yonit has been working in the world of education for many years, having taught young women in seminary, lower school in both Israel and the diaspora, and writing school curricula. This is the Mhazris’ second shlichut, having spent 2011-2013 in Chicago.
Most recently, Rav Adiel returned to Israel right after the October 7th massacre to rejoin his army unit and coordinate their efforts in Gaza. Rav Adiel spent two months fighting with the IDF in Gaza and continued to send our students messages and videos of support while he was there. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments there and the sacrifice of his entire family while he was away.
