To Fran and Rabbi Liben- Your presence at Temple Israel
and the greater metrowest community has been a blessing to all of us
for the past 30 years. It's been a joy to worship with you and to have you
present in all the important moments and milestones (joyous and solemn)
in our family's life. It was a wonderful experience to share two weeks
in Israel with you. We have loved learning with you and and elevating
our level of spirituality because of the insights you have shared with us,
whether from the pulpit, in a class, at a meal, or just in
everyday conversation.

And we have been blessed to watch your family grow and expand
and share in your important life moments as well.
We will miss you, but wish you Mazal Tov
on your reaching a new chapter in your lives!!
With much love and gratitude-

For thirty years you have been our rabbi, our spiritual leader, our teacher,
our mentor, and our friend. You have guided us through our lifecycles
and made each one easier to manage, and less bitter or sweeter,
by adding your wisdom, mindfulness, and humor. We have watched
each other's families grow and expand and have loved every moment.
It's unusual for entire families to feel so connected to one rabbi...
but you are not just any rabbi...you are, and always will be, our Rabbi.

Dan - we wish you and Fran everything you wish for yourselves
as you move forward, and hope you continue to go

I remember as though it was yesterday the first time
we Israeli danced together and discovered we were both Cejwinites.
It's so hard to believe that was 30 years ago. Those evenings of dancing
became an important part of my life both for the dancing
and for the community it offered me.

You presided over the Bar and Bat Mitzvahs of 2 generations of my family
and honored me by giving your son a tallit I wove as he was ordained.
But most importantly, you helped me and my family
through the most difficult time of our lives when Mitch died.
For that, you will always hold a special place in all of our hearts.

I wish you health, happiness, peace and lots of time
with your grandkids in the future. You will be missed.

Rabbi Liben, you changed my life!
You inspired me to travel with you spiritually
at Thursday meditation sits and Sunday minyans.

You renewed my connection with Judaism
by welcoming me into the temple without any judgment about
my feelings about Israel, my Catholic partner Marty, or Sabbath services.

Furthermore, all the classes that you taught in the adult education program
motivated me to love and be proud of being Jewish.

I am forever grateful that I got to be in your orbit of this world.
Thank you!

Rabbi Liben, You have made especially significant and indeed comforting contributions to my life during the 5 years Susan and I have been members of Temple Israel. To me, a most memorable aspect of your leadership was that every Shabbat it seemed that your sermon was addressed directly to something that concerned me, and thus it was as if you were directing your talks specifically to me in a personal bond. I will always remember that connection. (Richard Wax)

Rabbi Dan, I have thoroughly enjoyed our involvement with Temple Israel since we moved to Massachusetts 5 years ago. The temple under your leadership has been a joy to experience; your Shabbat sermons; your singing in harmony with the cantor during services; the classes we attended and of course your spirited Israeli folk dancing. This was such a unique combination of talents that you offered. We will always cherish the time we had with you at Temple Israel.
