Tamar and Andy Eagle
Young Leadership Award
Since moving to New Rochelle three years ago from Riverdale, Tamar and Andy have contributed to the YINR community and volunteered wherever needed. They quickly became YINR fixtures, making friends and bridging generations. Their efforts on behalf of the shul and community are only just beginning.
Both Tamar and Andy were brought up in households that deeply value contributing to the Jewish community. Tamar’s mother, Sharon, has not only instilled in her a profound love for Israel but has also demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Am Yisrael through her work at SAR Academy. Andy, a native of New Rochelle, was raised in a household steeped in community involvement, and his parents, Amy and Myron, continue to have a lasting impact on the community's growth and vitality.
Tamar’s willingness and dedication to be part of every committee she’s asked to join is nothing short of admirable. She graciously delivers welcome packages to new families through her role on the Hospitality Committee, plans events with the Special Events Committee, organizes and volunteers at the annual Women’s League boutique, and has served in various roles on the annual shul Dinner Committee. The care and time Tamar puts into these responsibilities reflects her continued generosity and dedication to our shul. Tamar is also instrumental in the continued growth of the community by helping people find their homes through her role as a real estate agent.
Andy, who consistently has a smile on his face, knows the vast majority of YINR’s congregants . He attends minyan at YINR regularly, davens for the amud, and stands in as gabbai whenever necessary. Andy also served on the Nominating Committee for the shul Board of Trustees. He looks forward to participating and learning in the Smichas Chaver program every week. Years ago, when he told his daughter Ella they were going to his favorite place, she turned to him and asked, “Shul?” Andy’s commitment to his religious values and Torah learning is contagious. While not in shul, Andy can be found managing buildings at RCR Management, where he’s worked for the last 10 years.
In addition to helping the YINR community wherever possible, Andy and Tamar are both deeply committed to Eretz Yisrael and Am Yisrael. Andy and Tamar met in Israel while Andy was serving as a lone soldier in the Golani Brigade as a sharpshooter and Tamar was studying at Bar Ilan. Since Andy's own experience as a lone soldier, both he and Tamar have felt a deep passion for supporting other lone soldiers, reflected through their involvement with FIDF. Additionally, they actively support Bonei Olam, driven by their passion to assist families in bringing more Jewish children into the world.
Andy and Tamar have been incredible role models for the community and in particular, their four children, Ella, Micah, Hannah, and Serena. They lead humbly and unassumingly, not looking for recognition, but for ways to help and make a difference. We are lucky to have them.
