Rivie and Avi Blum made West Hempstead their home nearly nine years ago, quickly becoming an integral part of the Young Israel community. Together, they have embraced both leadership and volunteer roles, fostering connection and engagement within the shul.
 
Rivie serves on the executive board of both the Young Israel and the Young Israel Sisterhood, where she plays a vital role in shaping programming and initiatives. As co-chair of the tech committee, she helps keep the shul’s digital presence running smoothly. She also served as co-chair of the welcoming committee for several years, ensuring that new families felt at home. Always looking for ways to bring fresh energy to the community, Rivie spearheaded initiatives such as the Sisterhood Superette and Shop for Shabbat, a meaningful fundraiser for Israel.
 
Avi is an active member of the Men’s Club and takes great pride in hosting an annual siyum during the Nine Days, bringing friends and community members together in Torah learning. He also serves as part of CSS, dedicating his time to the shul’s volunteer security group.
 
Beyond their involvement in shul life, Rivie and Avi’s greatest joy is raising their three wonderful daughters in this warm and vibrant community.
