Message from the President
Dear Friends,
It is with a mix of emotions that I invite you to join me at our 2026 Tribute Gala, a special evening to honor our departing Associate Rabbi, Yael Hammerman, who has contributed in myriad lasting and meaningful ways to our community. Tickets and journal ads are now available and we hope you can join the celebration and support our kahal!
Over the past dozen years, Rabbi Yael has brought her ruach (spirit) and creativity to our communal celebrations and gatherings. From joyous holidays to moments of reflection and togetherness, her leadership has enriched our shared life.
Yael has been a guiding presence for so many among us—most especially our children. Through a deep commitment to our Hebrew School, as well as our youth, teen, family, and intergenerational programming, she has helped nurture a generation with curiosity, confidence, and a strong sense of Jewish identity. Whether in the classroom, at events, or in quiet moments of encouragement, her influence has been both profound and personal.
As Rabbi Yael prepares for her next chapter, we gather not simply to say goodbye, but to express our heartfelt appreciation and to celebrate the legacy she leaves behind in our community. In addition, our Tribute Gala is an opportunity to bring our entire community together for an evening of fun, friendship, and festivity so I hope you can attend!
I also want to recognize our extraordinary gala chair, Hannah Sholl, supported by Carol Ingall, Lenore LaVine, Roberta Shapiro, Debra Weinstein, and Terry Zisowitz, for all the hard work that has gone into planning a fantastic evening for all of us.
As Yael mentioned in her farewell letter, her cup runneth over and this is our chance to raise our own cups to toast her. In the spirit of hakarat hatov—recognizing and expressing gratitude—please join me in demonstrating our appreciation of Yael and wishing her all the best by attending on June 7th and supported the event through the purchase of a journal ad.
