Honorees

Cantor Ricky & Anat Kampf

Tonight we honor Cantor Ricky & Anat Kampf for their 30 years of service to Baron Hirsch and the Memphis community.

Ricky & Anat moved here in 1989 from Indianapolis.  In his first years at Baron Hirsch, Ricky served the congregation as the assistant Shalich Tzibur and Executive Director.  He later received his cantorial degree from the Belz School of Jewish Music, and currently serves as the congregation’s Cantor.

Cantor Ricky’s melodious voice is a highlight of all of our Shabbat and holiday services.  His Kabbalat Shabbat service every Friday night fills the synagogue with excitement and energy, and his holiday work with both our Men’s and Boys’ Choirs make the High Holy Days very meaningful.  He also is a master Bar Mitzvah teacher, who has taught Torah reading and davening to countless boys throughout the city.

Ricky connects with adults as well, and can often be found teaching a haftorah to an adult who wants to reconnect with a Bar Mitzvah parsha from years ago.  In addition to his work at Baron Hirsch, Ricky is also a Music Teacher and Coordinator for extra-curricular programs at the Margolin Hebrew Academy.

Anat is a master teacher and administrator at the Margolin Hebrew Academy, where her boundless energy and commitment makes her beloved to all of her students.  Over the years, she has taught on almost every level.  She coordinates the Bat Ami program, which brings extremely talented Israeli women to work in Memphis as part of their national service.  She currently teaches 3rd Grade Judaic Studies, and is the Assistant Principal in the Middle School Division.  Over the years, Anat has learned with dozens of girls to prepare them for their Bat Mitzvah.

Together, Ricky & Anat are known throughout the community for their Chesed, their friendship, and for their unending ability to always be ready to help others.  Most important to the Kampfs are their children - Kaylee & Andy Stahler, Raquel Kampf, Bentzie Kampf, Ariel Kampf and Jack Kampf, and of course their grandchildren, Ella and Avery Stahler.

We wish Ricky & Anat continued Nachat from their family, and great success in all of their endeavors.
