Jill Goldwater was born and raised in southern California.  Before moving to Silver Spring she lived in Boulder, CO, and New Orleans, LA.  While her formal training was in biological sciences her professional work centered around administration and, in particular, Jewish professional leadership.  She worked as a synagogue Executive Director at two different Conservative congregations, as Director of Planning and Allocations at the New Orleans Jewish Federation and as Director of Accreditation and then Director of Human Resources at Hillel's International Center. 

 

She retired 2 years ago to enable her to to focus her time on her family, travel, knitting and chesed work.  She is an active member of the KMS Bereavement Committee and has been driving people and food for Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington since retirement.  In addition she and her husband, Stephen Prensky, volunteer to pack produce at the Silver Spring Christian Reform Church.

 

Jill really enjoys working for Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington.  She likes the diversity of people she meets, places she goes and types of "jobs" that are available.  She particularly likes the "non-committal commitment" Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington of Greater Washington offers her.  It fits in well with her need for great flexibility in her schedule and yet provides a reliable resource for opportunities to help others.  Working with the staff of Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington is also a plus - they are friendly, responsive and great people.

 

Jill lives with her husband, Steve, in Kemp Mill and are members of KMS.  They have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
