Robin Belfer has volunteerism in her blood. It started when her children were in public school where she served on all the PTAs of the schools that they attended. She eventually held the position of President of the PTAs at PS 209, RFK Middle School and High School and the Whitestone Hebrew Center Hebrew School. 

 

Once her children were out of the house, Robin turned her focus to the Sisterhood of Temple Gates of Prayer where she has sat on the Planning Committee as their Treasurer for the past 12 years. Her dedication to the Sisterhood is evident in the time and care she puts into everything she does for them. She has been the coordinator of the Annual Sisterhood Fashion Show which is a joint event with other Sisterhood affiliates in the neighborhood. She has now become the official bingo organizer, a position she picked up when the Sisterhood decided to run monthly bingo games to keep up the camaraderie that was lacking during the pandemic. She is also one of the chairs of the Temple Gates of Prayer Holiday Committee. Pre-Pandemic, this committee organized all the holiday events as well as the Shalach Manot and Rosh Hashanah Honey Fundraisers. Since the pandemic, Robin has been an integral part of organizing, packing, and delivering holiday packages to all the members of the temple so no one feels lonely during the holidays. This past year she was asked to be a BQLI Region Torah Fund Director, a Region Board position, and she graciously said yes. Everything Robin does, she does with much love and caring.

 

As much as she enjoys volunteering her time and energy, her greatest joy is her family: her husband, David, her children, Jared and Ashley, Allison and Eric, and her two beautiful granddaughters, Reese and Hallie. Robin is so deserving of the honor of being Temple Gates of Prayer’s 2022 Woman of Achievement.
