Beth was born in Brooklyn New York. She is one of six children, all of whom attended the Yeshivah of Flatbush. At the Yeshivah, Beth became proficient in Hebrew, Torah and Gemara. This set the stage for a lifetime of discipline and learning. 

 
Beth has been married to her husband, Leon, for 34 years. Together they raised four children: sons Brian (married to Cara), Russell (married to Hillary) and Scott (married to Deanna) and daughter Tracy. Beth and Leon have been blessed with seven grandchildren: Sophie, Emily, Henry, Maddie, Olivia, Owen, Dominic, and William (with another one on the way). Beth is enjoying her new life at The Greens.

After attending Syracuse University, Beth taught special education in the Bronx. The students were multiply handicapped, ranging in ability from extremely low to mildly low functioning. She oversaw the reading and language arts program. It was here that Beth learned what it means to accept people from all walks of life and to feel compassion for the needy. It was also where she came to learn how important it is to give back to society. 

  
After 31 years of teaching, Beth retired and became active in her synagogue, South Huntington Jewish Center (now Melville Jewish Center).  She learned to read Torah and became a regular Torah reader. Beth became the Sisterhood Shabbat Coordinator and did so for approximately eight years. And she took it VERY SERIOUSLY!!! 

Beth served as Sisterhood President for two and a half terms. Being president requires managerial and people skills. She worked diligently with Sisterhood chairwomen to implement social and educational programs. Beth has continued to work on ritual for Sisterhood. She is currently on the synagogue board and assists with ritual when needed.  

Along with being a regular Shabbat temple goer, Beth is always available to the synagogue. Whether it is helping with Purim, stuffing envelopes or making phone calls, she is there to help.  We are proud to honor Beth today.
