Letter From the President
On Behalf of the Eastchester Irish American Social Club, welcome to our 17th Annual St Patrick's Day Parade and Gala. We as a Club know this labor of love has become such a long-standing tradition for our community. We are truly grateful to Eastchester, Tuckahoe ande Bronxville for helping and supporting our parade which is so important to our club and for helping to pass on Irish culture and heritage to lour families and friends. Again, our town Supervisor Tony Colavita who always gives us the green light and allows the green line up 22. Tony from parade number one you have been so supportive along with the town board.This truly wouldn't be possible without the Town's backing.
The Club also owes a huge thank you to Monsignor Sorgie and the entire Immaculate Conception Parish a very special thank you. They start our parade day with a beautiful mass that pays tribute to the patron saint of Ireland, St Patrick. We as a club know it's important to celebrate in both a spiritual and cultural way. We appreciate and thank you for allowing us to also take over the cafeteria and the entire grounds for our pre-parade activities and kick-off.
Congratulations to this year's Grand Marshall's! What an honor to have our Past President's as this years' GM's I would like to mention Liam Deegan was very instrumental in getting the club back and running with younger families. Liam met Mary Denning at IHM church selling raffles and she encouraged him to come to a meeting so along with Pat Murtagh they came, and it grew. Liam paved the way for the next generation of Presidents. Each past president brought their own ideas and individuality but most of all the same purpose. To keep this a Social Club and to be be proud of our heritage and make it family Orientated. So, CONGRATULATIONS Liam Deegan, John Phelan, Margaret Murtagh, Steve Doherty, John Collins.John Murtha. Thank you for all your dedication to our club. Also, so nice to say you are all still active members.
A very SPECIAL congratulations to our Honorees Connie Cullen and Elizabeth Schaefer Connie and Beth, a so well-deserved tribute! You both have been so dedicated to this club for years and have truly been the backbone of this club.
The Club is privileged to have members as dedicated as you. So many of our functions and parades were and are a success because of you both. Again, CONGRATULATIONS on behalf of me and the Club. I hope you enjoy your evening with family and friends We all look forward to marching up 22 with you both.
