Tobias Dienstfrey
Agudas Achim

Tobias Dienstfrey loves being Jewish and doing Jewish.  He enjoys Torah study with the Rabbi and reading books about prayer and Jewish life.  Whenever he travels, he makes a point to visit the local synagogues.

After graduating from Brandeis University with a major in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and a Minor in Theater, he went on to get a Masters in Non-Profit Management at the American Jewish University in Los Angeles.  He worked professionally in the Jewish community for six years as a campaign associate and director of development.  So far he has traveled to Israel seven times and is very excited that he will be going back there again with his family this summer.

Tobias has been involved with Agudas Achim Congregation’s (AAC) Men’s Club since 2002, when he worked on Klezfest honoring three-generation families of the synagogue.  For the past three years, he has been the coordinator of AAC’s Men’s Club Shabbat reaching out to congregants of all ages to participate in the service.  And he also takes pleasure in festive Men’s Club activities such as Steak and Spirits in the Sukkah.

Tobias is currently a math teacher at Annandale High School (Go Atoms!) where he has been teaching the joys of mathematics to his eager (sometimes) students since 2005.  He and his amazing, and infinitely patient spouse, Elisheva, have lived in Alexandria Virginia since 2000 where they have raised their four above-average (of course) children:  Margalit, Akiva, Leo, and Lev.  He appreciates the support of his loving family and feels blessed to be part of a vibrant synagogue community in Northern Virginia.  May we continue to go from strength to strength.
