Stan Bernsteen was raised and bar mitzvah'd in Bayside, NY.

 

He earned his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University and enjoyed a career as a software engineer and cyber analyst with several companies, and non-profits, and the government. During a brief stint in New Jersey in the early 2000s he joined a tiny shul whose Rabbi inspired him to learn to chant the Torah.  This quickly became his passion, and he has been invited to leyn in several shuls since then. 

 

He eventually settled in Northern Virginia, where he became an active member and frequent Torah Reader at Congregation Beth Emeth.   Stan is preparing to retire, and plans to continue leyning. He also plans to work on open-source projects, and to teach computers, science, and Torah Reading.
