Stewart Prost
Beth El - Norfolk
Stewart has spent his personal and professional life focused on those who have obstacles to overcome. His journey in the Tidewater Jewish community started in 1994 as assistant principle for the Portsmouth United Religious School which served both Conservative and Reform communities in Portsmouth. After formally joining Congregation Beth El in 2008, he got actively engaged with the annual bingo fundraiser which led to roles coordinating Yellow Candles and Communications for the club. He is also engaged with the religious services committee.
 
Beyond Beth El, Stewart is an active volunteer with the National Federation for the Blind. He helped add a Jewish note to his work with them by dedicating a shabbat service to Blind Equity achievement Month in October 2021. Professionally, Stewart spent many years working for the Commonwealth of Virginia as an advocate for Virginians with disabilities.
