Lori E. Sloane
Lori Sloane was raised in Levittown, NY 
as the only child of Phyllis and Sol (z"l) Fruchter. She was active in Jewish life throughout her youth, serving on the USY Board at Wantagh Jewish Center and travelling to Israel with USY Pilgrimage in 1974. She still remembers when the entire group heard of Nixon's resignation on the radio while on a bus in Israel.

Lori is a graduate of SUNY Albany, where she studied music and biology. She earned her medical degree at SUNY Downstate and went on to Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine for her internship and residency. It is there that she met her husband, Mark, spending many 36+ hour shifts together caring for patients. They kept their relationship secret for 2 years, until Mark had completed his residency.
Mark and Lori were married in 1990 and honeymooned in Israel. They moved to Irvington soon after their son Zachary was born, and a few years later, welcomed their son Jesse. They joined GHC in 1997.
Lori has been a committed volunteer at GHC working on multiple committees and serving as B'nei Mitzvah Liaison, a trustee, Executive Secretary, and Executive Vice President, as well as working with Sherry Padva and many other volunteers to provide catering for our weekly Shabbat Kiddush Luncheons and special occasions. She learned to read Torah at GHC and remains an active member of the Yad Squad.
Lori is a rheumatologist in private practice in Yorktown Heights and has also been a voluntary physician in Lupus Clinic at Montefiore Medical Center every week for the past 30 years, teaching residents and fellows to care for people with Lupus.
Lori has been profoundly honored to have served as the president of GHC for the past 2 years and is grateful for the support of her wonderful husband Mark, their fabulous sons, Zachary and Jesse, as well as the support of Rabbi Stein, Cantor Leuchter, the Board of Trustees, and the congregation throughout this time.
