Robin Rosenberg
Robin grew up in Roslyn, NY (Herricks Schools), the oldest of 3 children. Her family were active members of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center. At Cornell University, she studied applied business and economics in the school of Agriculture & Life Sciences, and was on the board of Hillel, was Rush Chair of her sorority, in addition to other activities. After working in NYC for a few years, she attended the Wharton School and received an MBA in Marketing. From there she worked for 16 years in brand management for consumer products companies, marketing health and beauty aid products. After a break of about a dozen years, Robin helped with the launch of a new camp for the Sunrise Association, and has worked for them since. Sunrise provides free summer camp and year-round and in-hospital programs for children with cancer and their siblings.
Robin and Bruce were introduced by 2 friends who realized that they had much in common. Robin and Bruce were born 11 days apart, in the same hospital (LIJ), and had similar life paths and interests. They hit it off and were married 15 months later. They lived in NYC before moving to Dobbs Ferry. Robin was intrigued that Bruce was shul shopping when they met and she agreed to join the synagogue of his choice in NYC. When they moved to Dobbs Ferry, they heard wonderful things about GHC and its Nursery School (as it was known then). They enrolled Rena in the 3’s class, joined the synagogue, Robin became a class parent, and the rest is history. As time went by, GHC became a ‘home away from home’ for the entire family. Their 3 daughters, Rena, Felice and Ruthie, were all active participants at GHC. Robin chaired the Nursery School Board, led Tot Shabbat, was VP Membership, VP Youth, Sisterhood President, and joined numerous committees. She has led (or co-led) the Purim Carnival for many years, and the Carnival continues to be one of the signature events of the GHC calendar. She reads torah, and is an active member of the Green Team, Sisterhood, Purim Spiel, and Second Pillar.
Fortunately, Robin became President with the pandemic in the rear door. She continued the drive to attract congregants to in-person events and improve communication. So much has happened in the past 2 years, including a new playground, sidewalk, and parking lot, new school directors (each of whom brings a unique focus and vision for their respective populations), GHC survey, and renewed recognition of congregants. She is truly appreciative for all of the help and cooperation of the officers and trustees, Past Presidents, ECC Director Shaatrice Rossi, RS Principal Marcia Lane, the office and custodial staff, Cantor May, and very importantly, Rabbi Stein. Robin is especially grateful for all of the support and love of her husband Bruce and their daughters.
