Shana and Jonathan Schoenfeld
Family of the Year

As parents of four wonderful children—Jacob (8th grade), Emma (7th grade), Gabriel (5th grade), and Noah (2nd grade)—Shana and Jonathan have instilled in their family a deep love for Jewish education, Jewish values, and a strong sense of community. Their active involvement in HANC has made a profound impact, not only on their children’s educational experiences but on the entire HANC community.

Jonathan is a highly respected accountant in the finance world, bringing his professional expertise and strategic thinking to HANC as the school’s Treasurer. His careful financial oversight has been vital in ensuring the school’s financial health and sustainability. Beyond his role as Treasurer, Jonathan has also served on multiple committees, generously offering his time and talents to support HANC’s growth and success. His leadership and dedication ensure that HANC thrives both on a day to day basis but also for generations to come and further serves as testament to his commitment to the school and its mission.

Shana, a dedicated doctor, has balanced her demanding career with a deep commitment to HANC and the well-being of its students and families. As a Parent Ambassador, Shana has helped foster strong connections among new and current families, creating a welcoming environment for all. Shana has also served as Class Mom for several years, organizing class activities and events, and providing vital support to teachers and families alike. Furthermore, her involvement in the PTA has allowed Shana to play an instrumental role in planning school-wide initiatives and events that strengthen the greater school community. Shana’s efforts have fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie, making HANC a place where every family feels welcomed.

Together, Shana and Jonathan’s leadership, generosity, and tireless efforts have enriched the HANC community. They have shown us the power of collaboration and how a strong, supportive community can elevate the educational experience for every child. Their commitment to Jewish education, Jewish values, and community-building serves as an inspiration for us all."

Nancy Greenberg is honored to be the recipient of this year’s Educator of Excellence award. A long time resident of West Hempstead and a proud HANC parent and teacher, Mrs. Greenberg began her relationship with HANC as an active member of the PTA, ultimately serving as PTA President for 2 years.

She soon became part of the faculty, initially as a member of the Resource Room staff, then as a long-time first grade teacher. As an educator for nearly 30 years, Mrs. Greenberg has been committed to creating an environment where every child feels valued and successful. She has brought her years of experience in the classroom into the newly transformed Learning Center program.

Under her leadership, the Learning Center has become an integral part of building wide support for students and faculty. This past year, Mrs. Greenberg has expanded her role as the Director of Learning and Curriculum. Through dynamic collaboration with faculty, Mrs. Greenberg is committed to developing and implementing curricula that address the individual needs of each child and ensures that every student achieves their full potential. When not in the halls of her second home at HANC, Mrs. Greenberg enjoys spending time with her husband, Gilad, her children, Nili, Tali and Yossi, Riki, and Eitan , and especially babysitting for her granddaughter Temima.
