Ira Schuman is vice chairman of Savills Studley, where he also sits on the company’s board. Ira heads a practice group specializing in solving complex real estate problems for not-for-profit organizations.
David Carlos is a senior managing director of Savills Studley and co-head of the not-for-profit practice. He is recognized by his peers and the industry as an innovator and thought leader.
Ira and David’s team represents many of the most prestigious universities, museums, hospitals, foundations, and social and community service organizations in New York City. Their creativity and tenacity has earned them Real Estate Board’s highest honor on three separate occasions, commonly known as the “Most Ingenious Deal of the Year.” In 2016, they won the JTS project. Over a three-year period, Ira and David conceived the plan and structured transactions resulting in the new facilities currently being constructed on the JTS campus.
Tod Williams and Billie Tsien are the founding principals and co-designers of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects | Partners in New York City. In 1999, Paul Schulhof joined their firm and in 2013 became a partner. Their practice is committed to reflecting the values of longstanding cultural and academic institutions toward an architecture of permanence and enduring vision. A sense of rootedness, light, texture, detail, and most of all, experience, are at the heart of what they design.
Their reputation, expertise, and dedication to JTS’s mission led them to being selected as designers of the 21st Century Campus. The project will include an auditorium, residence hall, and a library to house the center’s renowned collection of rare Judaica. Their design for a new campus unified by a central light court reflects JTS’s vision to open its doors, share its rich cultural legacy, and engage with its neighbors, the city, and the global community.
