Judy and Jonathan Chiel exemplify total commitment to yzarhei tsibbur and we are honored to present them with Maimonides School's Community Award.

Rabbi Noah Cheses
Alumni Honoree

Rabbi Noah Cheses '03 was honored for chesed, Chumash, and leadership. Over the ensuing 16 years, he has lived every day, professionally and personally, validating that recognition. Rabbi Cheses was cited for his scholarship when ordained by Yeshiva University, then served as a role model as the OU-JLIC rabbi at Yale University with his wife, Sarah. From there they went to a congregation in Toronto before returning to New England in October 2016, serving as rabbi of Young Israel of Sharon. Rabbi Cheses's rabbinate reflects the same wisdom, empathy, and humility that defined him as a student. Maimonides School is delighted to honor Rabbi Cheses as our alumni honoree.

Merv Alge
Staff/Faculty Honoree

Merv Alge has worked as Maimonides School Director of Operations for almost two decades. That job covers a lot of ground, literally, from the physical plant to security, from traffic control to compliance. Merv's responsibilities are essential to the smooth and safe functioning of Maimonides. But Merv, an electrical engineer, is much more than a super-capable and visionary manager. Through his religious practice, his leadership at Young Israel of Brookline, and his community-wide chesed, he is a Jewish role model for students and parents alike. Merv embodies our school's core values, and we are honored to celebrate him as our faculty/staff honoree.
