Matt Fassler
The Guardians of the Future Award

Matt’s involvement with USY began through the Kadima chapter at the Forest Hills Jewish Center in the early 1980’s. He was a USY chapter officer, but his participation with the organization intensified when he went on the second Poland Pilgrimage Group (Group 5) in 1987. The origins of his relationship to USY date back even earlier -- his mother Rebekah Fassler (nee Mendelson) participated in one of the first Pilgrimage trips; his sister, Rachel Fischler, took part in the Nativ program in 1991-1992.

After graduating from Stuyvesant High School, and from the Prozdor program at JTS, he attended Yale University, graduating Cum Laude with a BA in history.  He has spent his professional career at Goldman Sachs, where he is a Managing Director and serves as the Business Unit leader for the US consumer sector in its Global Investment Research Division. Matt previously served on the boards of the Children’s Aid Society College Prep Charter School, the Coro New York Leadership Center, and the Israel Policy Forum, where he remains active today.

Matt is married to Mandy Greenfield, the artistic director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival. They live in Brooklyn Heights with their two sons, ages seven and nine, both students at the Abraham Joshua Heschel School, and are members of the Kane Street Synagogue.

Jackie Grosser
The Young Leadership Award

Jackie Grosser is the Director of Upper School Admissions at Schechter Westchester and has been with the school since September 2009. Previously, Jackie worked as the Director of Student Life, a role that included planning and executing the experiential education programming for the Upper School. Her love for Jewish education, particularly experiential Jewish education, came from her time as a METNY USYer. During her years in USY Jackie attended various synagogue, divisional, and regional events and beginning in her junior year of high school, Jackie began taking on leadership roles within the Koach Division. Jackie first served as Israel Affairs VP and later on as Divisional President. Her passion for USY did not stop when she graduated from high school. Immediately following college, she began working as a youth advisor at Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle. Jackie hoped to give the next generation of USYers the same amazing experience as she had. While her formal role with USY ended a few years ago, Jackie continues to promote a connection between Schechter Westchester and USY - two organizations rooted in Conservative Jewish values. She is still close friends with her fellow USYers and is so grateful to the organization for providing her with a fun and meaningful way to live her Jewish life.
