Shira Newman
Future Builder Award

Shira Newman is originally from Overland Park, Kansas where a strong sense of community service and volunteerism was the status quo. Constantly surrounded by her mom who was incredibly involved in the Chevra Kadisha of Kansas City, and family friends who helped build the Kansas City community to what it is today, Shira was instilled with a duty to give back from a very young age.  Shira graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Art History in 2010, and moved to New York in 2013 to attend NYU College of Dentistry; earning a second degree in Dental hygiene all while working full time for Drawing Booth, a live event art company. Shira currently works as a Dental Hygienist at Dr. Laura Torrado D.D.S on Central Park South in addition to Drawing Booth. Shira first became involved with Reuth when her friend Dana Wruble asked her to attend a Channuka card making event.  Shira was truly impacted after hearing of the work that Reuth does on a daily basis, and knew that she had to become involved in planning events for the Young Professional Committee to benefit the patients of Reuth.
