A message from our Head of School

Dear WDS Family,

In times of challenge and change, the strength of a united community becomes our greatest asset. At Westchester Day School, we believe deeply in the power of collective growth, that when one child thrives, when one family engages, when one teacher inspires, the entire community is elevated. This year’s 78th Anniversary Dinner celebrates that very idea, “A Rising Tide Lifts All Ships.”

Our mission to provide an exceptional dual curriculum rooted in Jewish and Zionist values is not just a goal, it is a shared journey. Every day our students grow into thoughtful, compassionate individuals who carry the torch of Torah and mitzvot with pride. Their learning, their kindness, and their leadership ripple outward, strengthening our school and the broader Jewish world.

We embrace the teaching, כל ישראל ערבין זה לזה, that all Israel are responsible for one another. At WDS, that light is magnified through the collective efforts of our families, faculty, and supporters. Together we create an environment where every student can shine and where the success of one becomes the success of all.

The Annual Dinner is a celebration of our community and it is a cornerstone of our Annual Campaign. Your participation and support ensure we can sustain academic excellence, nurture the emotional well-being of our students, and enrich their educational experiences. Even if you are unable to attend, we hope you will consider making a gift, so that together we can continue to rise as a community.

We warmly invite you to join us on Motzei Shabbat, Saturday, December 6, as we celebrate the bright future we are building at WDS.

This year we are proud to honor:

  • Leah and Daniel Bendavid, recipients of the Young Leadership Award, whose energy and vision are helping shape the next generation of WDS leadership.

  • Rebecca and Joshua Chubak, recipients of the Innovation Award, whose creativity and forward-thinking have brought fresh ideas and meaningful impact to our school.

  • Yvette Finkelstein, recipient of the Nediv Lev Award, whose extraordinary chesed and volunteerism continue to uplift our community.

  • Amy Kirschenbaum, recipient of the Educator Award, whose dedication and passion have inspired countless students and colleagues alike.

  • Alex Torres, recipient of the Guardian Award, whose steadfast support and care help ensure the safety and well-being of our school every day.

We look forward to welcoming you on December 6 for a night of celebration, unity, and shared purpose.

With warmest regards,

Rabbi Dani Rockoff
Head of School
