Rebecca and Joshua Chubak are the proud parents of Olivia (5th Grade), Jacob (3rd Grade), and Henry (Kindergarten). Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and Long Island respectively, Rebecca and Josh made the obvious choice to move from New York City to Westchester in 2020—proudly joining the Westchester Day School community. From their very first visit to the campus in 2018, they knew WDS was the perfect fit for their family.
The Chubaks quickly came to appreciate that WDS’s strength lies in the active involvement of its families, and sought ways to engage with the school community. Rebecca recently completed a three-year term on the PTA Board, serving first as Secretary and then as Co-President from 2023–2025. Rebecca’s focus as PTA president was on strengthening the school community, expanding parent engagement, and enhancing programming around retention and recruitment. Drawing on her background as a clinical social worker, Rebecca helped encourage growth, connection, and collaboration in the WDS community. She now continues her commitment to WDS as a member of the Board of Trustees.
Joshua is an endodontist with a private practice in New York City, where he and his team are dedicated to transforming patient experiences and relieving pain. He also teaches and mentors dental residents at NY Weill Cornell Hospital and serves as part-time faculty at NYU College of Dentistry’s Department of Endodontics.
Inspired by their shared passion for science, education, and innovation - and a deep love for their children's school, Rebecca and Joshua helped establish the school’s new state-of-the-art Innovation Lab. Dedicated in memory of Rebecca’s father, Mark Wender, z”l, and in partnership with the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE), the lab has quickly become a hub for hands-on STEM learning. Mark’s lifelong dedication to education—evident through his work with the Margolin Hebrew Academy, the Memphis Jewish High School, Stax Music Academy, Soulsville Charter School, and Rhodes College—continues to inspire their efforts; and Rebecca and Joshua are deeply honored to carry on his legacy within the WDS community.
